After such a fun week with our friends the Wallaces, they headed home and we headed to Back to School Night where we got to see the kids' new classrooms, meet their teachers, and drop off all of their school supplies. Going back to school is always so bittersweet. The kids are excited to get all their supplies ready, to see their friends, and meet their teachers, but none of us are quite ready for summer to end and everyone, including Mommy is usually pretty nervous. This year I think Sadie was more ready than she was last year but still not thrilled, Wyatt was excited about being at school all day which to him meant extra recess and getting to eat lunch in the cafeteria, and Cooper was just pretty quiet. I think he was really sad to see his buddies go off without him, which made his Mommy and Daddy's heart sad too. These are the moments when I wish I could pause time and preserve these relationships just as they are. Of course there are many other times when the stage we're in drives me crazy. The days seem so long sometimes that I'll secretly wish there was a way to skip over certain parts. I guess growing up is just funny like that. It's necessary and so good but also so hard.
Back to School Night
Our school has doing some construction on the main entrance which was suppose to be finished over the summer. Looks like they didn't quite get it all finished.

1st Day Breakfast
This is a somewhat silly tradition as everyone is usually a little nervous and not that hungry but still a fun one.
Wyatt First Day!
He is 6 years old and going into 1st grade.
His favorite color is black. His favorite things are Mario, riding on the lawnmower with Daddy, Dad and Mom, Yoda, Evie, and Zelda. When he grows up he wants to be a kindergarten teacher.
Sadie's First Day!
She is 7 years old and going into 2nd grade. Her favorite color is teal. Her favorite things are shrimp and noodles, brothers and sisters, mom and dad, and Evie. When she grows up she wants to be a teacher.
Sweet Friends. He's really going to miss Wyatt this year.
The kids played with sticks the entire time the Wallaces were here and literally the second they were gone Cooper accidentally poked Hazel with one and gave her the lovely black eye pictured here :(
Welcome Home Cookie
I tried to make the 1st day of school as fun as I could for everyone, including Cooper and myself. It's always kind of an empty feeling that first couple of day without everyone home. So, this year we picked out "first day of school" treats for Grammy and the Uncles and we drove around delivering them to keep ourselves busy. Then during nap time we made these giant cookies to surprise Sadie and Wyatt.
