4 Months Old

Month 4 was a good one.  We began the month up in Caldera Springs, the girls' first road trip.  They took bottles in the car and all in all slept well and were pretty flexible as we spent quite a bit of time in the car and then dragging them around to the pool and what not.  Nursing is going well.  We're into a good rhythm.  They've been off bottles for a month and are becoming a lot more efficient so we don't have to spend nearly as much time and energy on feeding which is wonderful.  They're starting to really notice each other and coo at each other which is my favorite!!!  I'm just so excited to watch their relationship grow.  They're too cute together!

Aubrey weighs 11 lb 1 oz and is now in the 3rd percentile.
Maddie weighs 10 lb 14 oz and is in the 2nd percentile.
I'm glad they're gaining and growing but I already miss my tiny little babies.  I look back at pictures now and they looked so preemie.  They look so different now with their full cheeks and little arm rolls.

The girls have really started to notice one another.  They coo at each other and smile and are always looking for the others hand when they're nursing.  In fact I've learned to help them find each other right away because if they're not holding hands then they usually end up poking each other in the eye while reaching for each other.

Nursing in the car is a bit of a fiasco but we figured it out so that we could attend Daddy's company picnic and I'm adding it to my list of things I didn't think were possible with twins.

These girls really get sooooo much attention.  As if being a twin wasn't enough they also have 5 doting siblings.  I'm fairly certain these two will never have any concept of personal space.  Every morning the whole crew is so excited to see them and every night they all have to come in and give kisses until we finally shoo them out because honestly there's just not enough room for all of us in the nursery.

Sadie is such a good helper.  I honestly don't know what I'm going to do without her when she heads back to school next week.

I don't get to fall asleep with these two the way I did with most of the others but I definitely enjoy their snuggles every chance I get and soak in watching them sleep for a few minutes after I feed them on a lot of days.

Aren't they just the sweetest!!!  I just want them to stay like this forever.

Here's a real life photo if I ever saw one.  5 kids pushing for position.  One baby kicking the other baby and one kid crying because they didn't get the spot they wanted.  This is what taking family photos has come to.

Happy 4 Months!!!

Back to School

I love our first day of school traditions possibly more than the kids although I think they appreciate the fun breakfast.  On this morning they're usually all a little nervous and too excited to really eat but I do it anyway.  This day is always bittersweet for both them and me.  A part of us is ready to get back into the rhythm of school, to friends and teachers and structure, but then there's also a big part of us that liked our time together at home.  We find ourselves here every year and this one was no different.  Cooper is in school all day this year, which is nice for me because I won't have to do as much driving, but also sad.  It's always kinda weird that first year when they're gone all day.  It makes them feel so grown up.

Always have to snap a picture of this one quick or he'll sneak into class without even saying goodbye.  Cooper didn't seem to nervous about a full day at school.  He was excited to pack a lunch for the first time and headed off without looking back just like he always does.

Wyatt headed right in.  We expect him to have a blast this year!  Sadie had these two teachers last year and loved them.  He's also starting the year sitting next to his best friend Cole so not much to complain about here.

I can barely walk Sadie in anymore because her little sisters never want to say goodbye and honestly I'm not sure Sadie wants to say goodbye either.  It was especially hard this year with the twins.  Sadie is always a little reluctant to head off to school.  I think she would have been happy to stay at home and help me with the babies if I'd let her, but I know how important this experience is for her growth.

Kendra's Baby Shower

We are so excited to welcome Tommy to our family in September and I'm really excited to watch Kendra and Andrew become parents.  Becoming a parent for the first time is such an incredible experience and it's always so fun to see what each new family will look like.  We're praying for a continued smooth pregnancy and are counting down the days until we get to meet this little guy.
